Step by step on Windows
- Before a big rewrite, right-click the sheet in the sheet list and choose Save Version. QuillSpace saves versions when you ask, so save one whenever you reach a point you may want to come back to.
- Right-click the sheet and choose Version History to see every saved version with its number, date and word count.
- Click a version to preview it on the right.
- Click Restore this version and confirm.
- Your current text is saved first as a new version, marked “Auto-saved before restoring”, so you can always undo the restore.
Tips for Windows
- Give a version a name: in Version History, type a note in Describe this version (optional)…, such as “Before rewriting the Borgo Pass”, then click Save current version.
- Clear out versions you no longer need with Delete in the same window.
- Version History works in the rich text editor, which is the default.
Step by step on Mac
- Before a big rewrite, press ⌘S or choose File › Save Version. A “Version Saved” notice appears at the top of the window.
- Choose File › Version History…, or right-click the sheet and choose Version History….
- Click a version to preview it, formatted as it was.
- Click Restore This Version, then Restore to confirm.
- Your current text is kept first as a version marked “Before Restore”, so you can switch back.
Tips for Mac
- Give a version a name: in Version History, click Save Version… and type a name such as “Before the big rewrite”. Right-click a version to Name Version… later.
- While you write, QuillSpace also keeps a copy every few minutes, marked Autosave. The newest 20 are kept; versions you save yourself are never removed.
- Delete a version with Delete…. It moves to the Trash.
