Two facts about QuillSpace, on both Windows and Mac: there is no generative AI in the app, and your manuscript is never uploaded to any server. It exists only as plain text files on your own computer. This page explains what that means in practice, what the app does send, and how you can check it yourself.
In short: QuillSpace has no generative AI features and no cloud. Everything you write is saved as plain text files on your computer and never leaves it, so we never have a copy of your work. The app sends a small amount of usage data, never your text, and keeps working if you cut it off from the internet.
No generative AI in the app
Nothing in QuillSpace writes, rewrites, summarizes, suggests or analyzes your story. There is no chatbot, no "help me write" button, and no AI feature waiting behind a setting, so there is nothing to opt out of.
One thing to know if you use a Mac: Apple Intelligence Writing Tools are part of macOS, not part of QuillSpace. They can appear when you select text in many Mac apps, and QuillSpace does not add or call them. If you do not want them anywhere on your Mac, Literature & Latte explains that on macOS 27 you turn them off in Screen Time, under Content & Privacy, then Siri, by switching off Writing Assistance.
Your manuscript is never uploaded
Your projects, groups, sheets, notes and saved versions are stored as plain text files on your own computer. QuillSpace has no cloud, no account to sync to, and no server that receives your writing. That has a few practical consequences:
- Nothing to train on. We never receive your manuscript, so it cannot be used to train AI, by us or anyone we work with.
- Nothing to leak. Your writing is not sitting on our servers, so a breach on our side cannot expose it.
- No policy can change it. Where your files live does not depend on terms of service. It depends on your computer.
- You choose where copies go. If you keep your project folder in OneDrive, Dropbox or iCloud Drive, that is your decision, and that service's own policy applies to those copies.
What the app does send
We want this page to be precise, so here is everything that leaves your computer. None of it includes your writing.
- Usage statistics (Windows): which features are used, and counts such as how many sheets you create, with your app version.
- A welcome survey (Windows and Mac): your answers to a short question about what kind of writer you are and what you plan to use QuillSpace for.
- Feedback you choose to send from inside the app.
- Purchases, handled by the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store, or Paddle.
Our server records your IP address with the survey and statistics. The privacy policy lists every detail.
Check it yourself
- Cut the connection. Block QuillSpace's network access with Windows Defender Firewall, or with a Mac firewall app such as Little Snitch or LuLu. Then write as usual: the app keeps working, because it never needed a server for your work.
- Look at your files. Your work is saved as plain text files in your project folder on your own disk. You can open, copy, move or back them up without QuillSpace.

Frequently asked questions
Does QuillSpace have any AI features?
No. Neither QuillSpace for Windows nor QuillSpace for Mac has generative AI features. Nothing in the app writes, rewrites, summarizes or analyzes your story, so there is nothing to switch off. On a Mac, Apple Intelligence Writing Tools come from macOS itself, not from QuillSpace.
Is my manuscript uploaded anywhere?
No. Your projects, groups, sheets, notes and saved versions are plain text files on your own computer. QuillSpace has no cloud and no server that receives your writing. The only way your files go online is if you put the project folder in a sync service you chose yourself.
Does QuillSpace need an internet connection?
No. QuillSpace works fully offline. You only need the internet to buy a license or download updates. If you block the app's network access with a firewall, it keeps working normally.
Can I back up or sync my projects?
Yes, with tools you control. Because your work is plain text files in a folder, you can keep that folder in OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive or any backup you already use. Windows and Mac are separate apps, purchased separately, and QuillSpace does not sync between them.
Free to start. Windows and Mac are separate apps, purchased separately.
